Tips

  1. Vacuum Your Refrigerator. If you have a built-in refrigerator, now's the time to get rid of the dust build-up. For refrigerator models such as Sub Zero that have a built-in top condenser, turn off power, take the upper panel off and vacuum the dust out of this area with a hand-held vacuum attachment. You should also vacuum and wash the upper panel that hides the condenser. For free-standing refrigerators, unplug, pull them out and vacuum as best as you can under and around the refrig area. Many of these models have a small panel on the bottom that should be removed so that you can get to all of the dust.  Also clean the panel. Dish soap and water work fine.

  2. Clean Your Oven. Don't make the mistake to wait until November with Thanksgiving around the corner to do this. Many ovens that are near-ready to be replaced often burn-out when homeowners clean the oven. Take a few hours and use your self-cleaning option. After it's completed, take a damp cloth to wipe up the burned-off residue.  In addition, you may have to use a Scotch-type pad and some elbow grease to get more difficult stains off of the oven. Never use oven cleaner in a self-clean oven.  Simply use hot water. A mild soap and hot water can be used on the door.

  3. Check Your Oven Temperature. This is another helpful tip to do before the holidays roll around. Place an oven thermometer in your oven and set the oven to 350 degrees. Check the oven in 20 minutes. If it is not within 5 degrees of 350, your oven should be adjusted and checked by one of our certified professionals.

  4. Change Your Refrigerator Water Filter. Filters should be changed annually for city/town water and every 6 months for well water.  We have filters in stock or we can order them quickly for you. If you do not have a filter, consider having one installed to ensure your water is free from contaminants and maybe even help the environment by using less plastic water bottles.
