My husband and I bought this dehumidifier on June 18th, 2025. Not even one year ago. This product has already stopped working on us. For an over $200 system, it is crazy that it can™€™t even hold up for one summers use. This is a complete waste of money, and we did all the maintenance and cleaning of the filters like the directions said. On top of it all, we contacted GE and they didn™€™t even uphold their one year warranty. We have proof on our credit card that we purchased this yet they lied about what date we purchased it, when we can clearly see on our statement when we bought it, and said that they could not do anything for us. GE used to be great, now it has an extremely high price tag for poorly made products. Never purchasing from them again.

Our first GE died just shy of one year, used the warranty but had to get another GE. Did not have a 50 pint to replace it so had to settle for a 35 pint instead. And of course in less than a year to replace it cost 20% more for a smaller one. This one died after almost three months. Done with this brand.

It started fine out of the box, but quit working when I needed it the most. I bought it Nov. 2024, so it™€™s not even a year old. I bought a different brand, which seems to be pulling out more moisture and now I wouldn™€™t recommend this unit at all. I never had a GE appliance fail so quickly, so early and based on the glowing reviews on Best Buy, I didn™€™t expect to have problems, even throwing away the box just weeks before it quit working. I needed a dehumidifier asap when I first purchased this one and clearly, I didn™€™t scour the Internet to read the true reviews. Let me spare you, don™€™t buy this one. I™€™m not sure how the warranty works or if it works at all. Best Buy, where I made the purchase isn™€™t helping, they say it™€™s GE™€™s responsibility. Just save yourself the trouble. Don™€™t buy this one. I already wrote a review, but when it came back for a confirmation, it was blank.

Don™€™t buy! It worked great from the start, even though it didn™€™t pull as much moisture as the new, different brand unit I bought when this one broke. But this unit stopped working the very week I needed it the most. It™€™s not even a year old. I bought it in November 2024. I never had a GE appliance fail so quickly, didn™€™t expect it to happen, either, because of the great ratings, and even threw away the box weeks before it broke not expecting a problem. Not sure what GE will do since it™€™s under warranty still and I dont have the box, but Best Buy isn™€™t taking it back or replacing it with a working unit.

Good but still could improve

Overall this is an improvement over my previous dehumidifier. It has a sleeker look, the interface is nice, and the new smart dry function seems to be working well so far. So far it's easier to clean and the filter is much more accessible. The downsides are that it is a little more challenging to empty the tank. The wheels on the dehumidifier roll almost *too* well and the way the handles and the tank are designed it's harder to pull it out. You almost need something to brace it against so it's not trying to roll with you as you remove the tank. Not to mention it gets way too full by the time it tells you it's full. I keep it in my basement so it's not a problem but I imagine if you keep it somewhere that has carpet or in a nicer area, you're bound to get water everywhere when you remove the tank and try to empty it. Another suggestion I would make is having the text on the buttons either illuminated or have raised buttons. Since I keep it in my basement and it is dark in there most times, if I need to make a quick adjustment I either need to bring a flashlight or turn on a couple lights to make sure I'm hitting the right buttons.

I have it in the basement, noise level is fine, does a good job removing the moisture. My only concern is I put a hose in the back to drain into my sump pump well but it doesn't drain which means I'm going up and down the stairs almost daily

The jury is still out on the performance of this item. So far it has been working okay. However the past quality of the humidifiers I have had from GE has been terrible. I have had 2 within the last 2 years stop performing and this is my 3rd one. So my faith in GE products if not high. Have not received refund check yet.

I've had the GE 35pt Engery Star Portable Dehumidifier for a few days and was pleasantly surprised by the sound level I've experienced. I was told by friends before my purchase that I should be prepared for a noticable increse in noise from a dehumidifier running continuously but to the contrary I've verily noticed it. I can be compared to an electric fan on low to medium speed.

All dehumidifiers are kinda loud but this one is way more quiet then my homelabs one (22 pint from 2020). The smart dry setting is what I keep it on and the bin fills quickly. I may end up doing a drain setup so I don™€™t have to empty the bin everyday. My home is 2300 square feet and I placed this one on the main level. I™€™ll probably get one for my 2nd floor. The only downside is I couldn™€™t find this model in white 50 pint as I™€™m not a fan of a grey color.

Error Code issue

Giving it 3 stars because we have had this particular unit just over 2 months and it is displaying error code E6 and shuts off. There isn™€™t any information in the manual about this error code. We turn off and restart and it runs about 40 minutes and displays the error code E6 and shuts off again. Tried several times with the same out come. Per the warranty instructions in the manual and the phone call we made, we will return it to the store we purchased it through. And now we have to research again which dehumidifier to purchase. Another issue while it was working we tried to use smart dry but for us it just continued to run and not shut down and never reach the set humidity level.

Dehumidifier displays E6 error and stopped working

Worked well for a few months and then displayed E6 error. Now the dehumidifier turns on for about 40 minutes and then displays the error again. The user manual and GE website did not have any information about the error codes. The dehumidifier is now a $200+ paperweight that is too large to put on a desk.

Only had the dehumidifier for a couple of weeks so far so good. We have a very damp cellar and probably should have bought the larger unit. I have to empty it every 4 hours. It is somewhat easy to empty. I don't find it noisy but it is in the cellar.

I purchased this dehumidifier in an effort to reduce the humidity in my home and to reduce the condensation on my windows during the winter. I was skeptical. The day I turned it on for the first time the humidity was over 70% in the house. After 8 hours the device automatically shut off when the tank was full. The humidity had been reduced to 56%. The tank held approximately 136 oz. Over the next 48 hours I emptied the tank another four times and removed a total of approximately 39.35 pints. I have been able to reduce the humidity in my home to as low as 47%. As for the cons: I do believe the tank is somewhat flimsy and the way it fits into the base is awkward. When the tank is full you have to be careful in removing it from the base to avoid spilling the contents. Pouring the water from a full tank is also awkward because there is not a true spout, just some holes at one corner of the top.
